Business in Edmonton featured Bilal Hydrie on its cover as the face of a Canadian dream — an immigrant who arrived in Canada to get an education and instead built Inclusive Energy into one of Western Canada's premier oilfield equipment and service companies.

Born into a business-oriented family in Pakistan and a member of the Habib Group, Hydrie grew up between Pakistan and Dubai watching his family run international businesses across banking, manufacturing, retail, and education. He moved to Canada intending to study, return home, and run the family business — until opportunities in Alberta energy changed his path.

After graduating from the chemical process engineering program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), he spent six years in the oil and gas industry and noticed a gap in the drilling and completion sector when demand was high and supply of custom-built equipment was low.

A one-stop shop, built from a first deal.

He founded Inclusive Energy to be a one-stop shop for clients — designing, drafting, custom fabrication, delivery, setup, and flexible financing under one roof. He started from scratch with a $50,000 investment, knocking on doors across rural Alberta until he landed his first deal with a major Alberta energy player.

His strategy has been acquisition and maximum customer satisfaction — buying distressed assets when others won't, taking on the cleanup and transportation liability, and stocking equipment across five yards in Alberta so clients get what they need with a single phone call.

"Failure is a part of business," he told the magazine. "I have failed several times before succeeding, but I have learned from my failures and applied my learning to return bigger and better each time. I had to work for my success. Nothing was handed to me."
